Pogba released a statement on Sunday

Paul Pogba has reportedly told investigators that his brother, Mathias, is part of a gang blackmailing him for €13m.

The Frenchman released a statement on Sunday through his lawyers after his brother, Mathias, posted a video to Twitter in which he said he could reveal ‘explosive’ information about his sibling.

In the video, Mathias said that “the whole world, as well as my brother’s fans, and even more so the French team and Juventus, my brother’s team-mates and his sponsors deserve to know certain things.”

The former Wrexham defender added that the news could turn his friends and employers against him and also claimed he had “important things” to say about his brother’s international teammate, Kylian Mbappé.

‘This has been referred to the appropriate authorities’

Juventus midfielder Paul responded to the allegations on Sunday. A statement said:

“The recent declarations of Mathias Pogba on social media are unfortunately not a surprise. They are coming after threats and attempts of extortion by an organised gang against Paul Pogba.

“This has been referred to the appropriate authorities both in Italy and in France a month ago.”

Pogba has since reportedly told investigators that his brother, Mathias, was part of a gang blackmailing him for €13m.

Get France Football News have additionally reported that during various interviews with the authorities, the Juventus midfielder said he had been trapped by childhood friends and two hooded men armed with assault rifles during an incident in Paris.

Pogba added that he was dragged to a house by the childhood friends, where he was blamed for not helping them financially since he became a professional player.

The midfielder told investigators that he had never hesitated to help his friends until January last year, when he had to ask a friend to leave his house in Manchester after realising the individual had used his credit card to steal €200,000 from him.

Paul also explained that the reason why Mbappé’s name had come into the conversation was because blackmailers wanted to discredit him and put further pressure on him to pay up by spreading false messages.

One of those messages included claiming that he had asked a witch doctor from inside his family circle to cast a spell on his international teammate, something Pogba has denied.

The most recent of the intimidation attempt is said to have taken place in the city of Turin, where Pogba is based after rejoining Juventus this summer.
