Depay posted a message of support to Promes on Instagram
Memphis Depay has posted a message of support to his Dutch international teammate Quincy Promes, despite the Spartak Moscow forward being at the centre of a number of allegations.
Promes was accused of being
involved in drug trafficking and organised crime while he was also set to be charged with attempted murder in March 2022 in relation to the stabbing of his cousin in July, 2020. His cousin had been stabbed in the leg but survived.
Despite initially denying that he had been involved in the stabbing, Promes later admitted to the crime in a wire-tapped phone conversation.
The Public Prosecution Service in Amsterdam announced at the time that they would be prosecuting Promes for the attempted murder of his cousin but as of yet, no date has been announced.
Promes is currently playing in Russia for Spartak Moscow
Meanwhile the 30-year-old has been able to continue playing for Spartak and recently scored the winner in the Russian Cup Final against city rivals Dynamo, netting a 72nd minute winner.
As Promes continues to play despite the allegations, his international teammate Depay posted a controversial message of support to the forward.

In an Instagram post featuring an image of Promes smiling with the Russian Cup, the Barcelona man captioned it, saying: "Rock on the fact that you stand firm people who know nothing about your private life will continue to prejudice you without any criminal offences being proven.
"Word of everything said, but you're there and you're doing your thing hard!
"I know what this award means to you and what you have to do this season and then you also score the winning goal!!"

Promes has played 50 times for the Dutch national side but hasn't been included in the squad for their Nations League fixtures this June.
