Liverpool set £60m Mo Salah price as contract talks continue

Liverpool are reportedly open to selling Mohamed Salah for £60m this summer as talks over a new deal continue to rumble on. Salah has one year left on his contract and is asking for a significant wage increase but with Liverpool determined not to break their financial model, the two parties are still some way off in negotiations. The Daily Express have said that the 30-year-old has asked for a salary which is £160,000 a week more than what Virgil van Dijk currently earns at the club. Under Jurgen Klopp Salah has become one of the best players in the world and has been part of a side that has won all four domestic trophies in England, a Champions League title, a European Super Cup and a Club World Cup. The Egyptian international has also won the Premier League's Golden Boot on three separate occasions but it appears that if Salah is going to leave Merseyside, the Reds would prefer to get a fee for him this summer as oppose to losing him for nothing. Realistically there isn't many teams that could sign Salah. The four sides that could probably match his wage demands are Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City.

Liverpool have already lost one key player this summer

Liverpool's Salah situation is not uncommon, with many high-profile players now running down their contracts in order to get the best deal possible, the most recent example being Kylian Mbappe, who almost signed for Madrid on a free - before signing a bumper contract at PSG at the eleventh hour. Klopp has already lost one of his prized assets this summer after Sadio Mane completed a move to Bayern Munich this week following his wish to look for a new challenge. The Reds have brought in Darwin Nunez as a replacement and he is expected to line up alongside Luis Diaz and Salah in the front three as Liverpool aim to compete for all four trophies once again.
