Liverpool fan Sean Cox returns to Ireland after being moved to Dublin hospital

He remains in a critical condition

Liverpool supporter Sean Cox returned to Ireland on Saturday after being transferred from Liverpool's Walton Neurological Centre to the Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. The father-of-three has been in hospital since he was brutally attacked by two AS Roma supporters prior to Liverpool's Champions League semi-final first leg with the Italians last month, and remains in a critical condition. According to a report by Dublin Live, the 53-year-old's condition is yet to improve since the attack, but his family remain hopeful of a recovery. It was revealed shortly after the attack that doctors at Walton Neurological Centre had attempted to revive him from a medically induced coma which he was placed in shortly after undergoing surgery. Of the two men who were charged with attacking the county Meath native, one has pleaded guilty to violent disorder, while the other has pleaded not guilty. A GoFundMe page was set up with the intention of helping Mr. Cox's family with medical expenses and the costs of remaining by his side during his stay in Liverpool, and has already raised over its initial goal of €90,000. The attack on Mr. Cox provoked widespread condemnation from many in the football world, including AS Roma's president, and led to tributes and messages of support from both the Roma and Liverpool squads.
