Moss was in charge of the Championship play-off final on Sunday
Police have launched an investigation into an attack on the shop owned by recently-retired referee, Jon Moss in the aftermath of the Championship play-off final.
As reported by the Daily Star, Moss is believed to have contacted Yorkshire Police after his shop ‘The Vinyl Whistle’ in Headingley was vandalised.
The incident occurred 48 hours after Moss had officiated the play-off final at Wembley Stadium as Nottingham Forest secured their return to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years with a 1-0 win against Huddersfield Town.
Moss chose not to award Huddersfield two penalties in the game and received heavy backlash from fans of the Terriers in particular who questioned why the ex-Premier League official didn’t award the penalty.
One person said: “So Jon Moss and Paul Tierney, who robbed #htafc of the opportunity to win £170 million, don’t even have to offer an explanation as to how they reached their decisions regarding both penalty incidents. What other industry would operate in this manner? All we want is an explanation.”

Another person tweeted: “Jon Moss not only not giving two stonewall penalties for Huddersfield, he’s now not enforcing the rule of Samba having to go behind the goal to be subbed. One of the worst refereeing performances I can remember.”

Moss is said to believe that the attack on his record shop directly correlates with the abuse received from Huddersfield fans. The 51-year-old will take up a new role as a Select Group 1 Manager at the PGMOL ahead of next season.
