John Terry savagely responded to James Maddison’s comments with a brutal nine-word put down.

Maddison was substituted in the first half of Spurs’ 4-1 defeat on Monday night in what turned out to be one of the games of the season.

Terry took to Instagram to celebrate his former side’s emphatic win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The former England captain shared pictures of him dancing on the bar with his wife Toni, captioning the post: “When Chelsea beat Spurs 4-1 on a school night and the tequila comes out, and you end up dancing and singing on the bar.”

Spurs’ number 10 then replied: “Jesus, u have ur eyes closed when it was 11 v 11 first 15 JT?”

However the Chelsea legend soon responded, brutally saying: “‘Madders, don’t worry mate you will get used to it,” followed by three laughing emojis.

Spurs looked to be in cruise control as Dejan Kulusevski’s deflected effort put the hosts in front.

Heung-min Son then had a goal disallowed and after two Chelsea goals were ruled out, Cole Palmer equalised from the spot as Cristian Romero received his marching orders for a poorly timed challenge on Enzo Fernandez.

Ange Postecogolou’s side were then reduced to nine-men as Destiny Udogie was shown a second yellow card for another poor tackle.

Chelsea’s two-man advantage took its toll in the end and Nicolas Jackson was able to grab a first Premier League hat trick for his new side in a game where the Blues looked second best for the majority of the 90 minutes.
