Barton denies all allegations that he assaulted his wife
Joey Barton is to stand trial next month over claims that he assaulted his wife at a house party, reports the MailOnline.
Barton, who is currently manager of Bristol Rovers, is accused of assaulting his wife, Georgia O'Neill at a house party in June and denies all charges.
It was confirmed on Wednesday (17 November) that the former Newcastle United and Manchester City midfielder would appear before the Wimbledon Magistrates Court on Thursday 16 December.
In a statement by the Metropolitan Police, they said: "The charge relates to an incident which took place at a residential property in Kew on Wednesday, June 2 in which a woman received a head injury. London Ambulance Service did not attend.
"A 38-year-old man was arrested on June 2, bailed pending further enquiries, and subsequently charged."
Following the arrest, Bristol Rovers released a statement which read: "The football club is aware of the court hearing involving Manager Joey Barton, scheduled to take place on Monday, 26th July.
"As there are legal proceedings pending, the club is unable to make further comment at this current time."
