Glazer family to explore possibility of selling Man United

The Glazers' time at Old Trafford could finally be up

Manchester United could have new owners for the first time in 17 years, with the Glazer family exploring the possibility of selling the club. Sky News have reported that the American owners are preparing to formally announce their intention to examine potential sources of outside investment that could lead to a full-scale bidding war to own the club. Sources claim that investment bankers were instructed by United's owners to advise on the process which could range from a partial sale to a full sale or announce a strategic partnership with a third party. Should a sale go through it would mark the end of a 17-year spell dominated by fan protests at the way the family has run the club, before and after, the failed European Super League project. United haven't won a Premier League title since 2013 and have seen a revolving door of managers ever since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. In more recent times the club have dealt with the explosive interview conducted by Cristiano Ronaldo last week. During the interview he publicly criticised the Glazers' running of the club and said that they "didn't care" about United. Ronaldo's contract was ultimately terminated on Tuesday after the two parties came to a mutual agreement. Recent rumours have suggested that any prospective would likely be looking a deal between £5bn and £9bn in order to convince them to sell and in turn, make it the most expensive sale of a sporting club of all time. The Red Devils won't be short of interest either, with Sir Jim Radcliffe and Michael Knighton two of many to previously register their  interest in the club.
