"Really, I didn't know that?" replied the Frenchman to the club's tweet. Pretty damn awkward.
On their website, Zurich stated that Malouda had only agreed to join recently and that his other working commitments meant they had no choice but to terminate his contract.
"FC Zurich and Florent Malouda have decided by mutual agreement to end the recently started cooperation," read a statement.
"It turns out that the various projects in which Florent Malouda remains involved are not compatible with the job role planned by FC Zurich.
"We wish Florent Malouda good luck and success on his future career path."
We thought the term "mutual agreement" tended to mean both parties were aware it was happening, so maybe this is all a ruse by the former Chelsea winger to make us forget that he once shot a penalty kick onto Jupiter while playing for Delhi Dynamos.
If that's the case, Florent, you'll never stop us.
