The one thing all Premier League fans can agree on

Premier League fans have joined forces as they slam the quality of officiating in the top flight.

A number of high profile incidents have occurred, ranging from: Liverpool’s goal that was incorrectly ruled out for being offside as well as numerous other decisions.

Gary O’Neill blasted the decision to award Sheffield United a penalty in the dying moments of their game against Wolves – which they subsequently went on to win because of it while the most recent of the fallout was in the game between Newcastle United and Arsenal as many fans felt Kai Havertz should’ve been sent off for a late challenge on Sean Longstaff while Mikel Arteta hit out at the decision to allow Anthony Gordon’s goal to stand.

After the game Arteta said: “I feel embarrassed having more than 20 years in this country, and this is nowhere near the level to describe this as the best league in the world. I am sorry.”

Fans were also in agreement on social media, with one user writing: “Refereeing in the Premier League isn’t up to scratch and most fans know this. Like many others I’d want to see a quick improvement but what can be done to make things better? Is VAR the problem? The people in charge of it? Should the league bring in referees from abroad?”

A second added: “This is the worst Premier League season ever in terms of officiating and we’re not even midway yet!

“Premier League officiating is among the worst ever among all leagues. Disgusting,” said a third.

Meanwhile a fourth commented: “The officiating in the Premier League is the worst I’ve seen in my life.”
