Everybody’s saying the same thing about who the new Spain gaffer should be

There's only one name on everyone's lips

People think only man is getting the job

The news that Spain has sacked its manager Julen Lopetegui on the eve of the 2018 FIFA World Cup has sent shockwaves around the football world.

The former FC Porto manager was named as the new Real Madrid manager on Tuesday, replacing Zinedine Zidane who left the Santiago Bernabeu later last month.

While the appointment was widely lauded as a smart one by pundits and fans alike, there were question marks over the timing and how it might interrupt Spain’s World Cup preparations.

Those question marks proved valid after the news broke today that Lopetegui had been relieved of his duties, and now the questions are turning towards who will replace him.

Social media is awash with speculation, and there seems to be just one name on the lips of fans: Zinedine Zidane. Now, while it may appear a little left-field for a manager with no international experience and just days ahead of him to prepare, it is a possibility.

Some people are fully behind the possibility, with others less so, but on the whole people seem to think it’s a genuine possibility.

Though, to be fair, it seems significantly more likely that one of Lopetegui assistants, notably Fernando Hierro, will get the job, it hasn’t stopped people from speculating wildly.

I guess all we can do is sit back and enjoy what happens next in this already ludicrously dramatic World Cup.
