The fan and Brands got into an argument following Everton's heavy defeat to rivals Liverpool

Everton director of football Marcel Brands was involved in a heated exchange with a supporter after their heavy 4-1 loss to Liverpool on Wednesday night. A brace from Mohamed Salah, as well as goals from Jordan Henderson and Diogo Jota, condemned the Toffees to their heaviest defeat against their city rivals at Goodison Park. The result was met with animosity from the supporters who had stayed to endure the full 90 minutes, with many directing their anger towards manager Rafael Benitez, who has struggled to feel the love since arriving in June. One fan even ran onto the pitch to question the players face-to-face before being escorted off. Those in the stands also looked to cite their rage, and Brands felt the wrath of Toffees supporters. The director of football has been criticised for several poor transfers in recent years, with Everton having spent big-money to try and reach the European stages and it looked like fans have had enough. In a video posted to Twitter, the Dutchman can be seen in conversation with the fan who shouts aggressively: "What do you think of that? Did you recruit them?" Fans of the club were particularly intrigued by Brands' comments, with one fan reckoning that the Dutchman's comments were a dig at under-pressure manager Benitez, which sums up the sorry state of affairs at the club right now. He said: "Now I've calmed down surely calmed down surely that's a dig at the manager and everything above them. "This club is rotten top to bottom. He is a yes man." Meanwhile, another fan noticed Brands on his own at half-time, suggesting something is not right in the hierarchy. He said: "I don’t believe Brands has any say in anything, I looked across at half-time and he cuts a very lonely figure.
