Ten Hag says he ‘can’t wait around’ for Ronaldo to return
Erik ten Hag has warned Cristiano Ronaldo that he can’t keep waiting for his return and that he is preparing for the start of the season with the squad he has got.
Ronaldo has yet to report for pre-season training since he expressed his desire to leave Old Trafford after being granted compassionate leave for family reasons.
United’s Premier League season gets underway in two weeks against Brighton and Hove Albion and Ten Hag has said his priority is the players he has at his current disposal.
” I focus on the players who are there, they are doing really well, they are in good shape,” the Dutchman said.
“I prefer to focus on that and develop that. I cannot wait for him to come in, then we will integrate him.”
Martial shows impressive form during pre-season
Anthony Martial’s future looked uncertain at the Red Devils after he was shipped out on loan to Sevilla for the second half of last season, but the Frenchman has played a key part in pre-season and is the most likely to lead the line on the opening day.
Martial has scored three goals in three games while on United’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia and combined well with Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes.

“You see they connect really good together,” Ten Hag added.
“I think when you see that you are lucky as a manager, the team is lucky. We have a threat, we have weapons, and we have to improve that every day, to develop that.”
United have three more games before the start of the new season, starting with Aston Villa on Saturday before fixtures against Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.
