Georgia Stanway has revealed that members of the England men's squad have asked for tickets to Sunday's Euro 2022 final against Germany. Sunday's final is the first time England have been in contention to win a major trophy since 2009 and tickets have already sold out, with 90,000 expected to be in attendance at Wembley Stadium.'Sorry, lads, we’re all sold out!'
Supply and demand for a seat has increased tenfold, with resale websites selling tickets for over £1,500 and even some of the stars who played for men's team at Euro 2020 are having difficulties securing a ticket. When asked if Sarina Wiegman's squad had received any good luck messages for the game, Stanway joked that many had been in touch asking for a ticket. "Quite a lot of the England men have been in touch, just wishing us well and asking if they can have a ticket," Stanway told The Athletic. "Sorry, lads, we’re all sold out! "They’ve been at us, just giving us all the information they can. Obviously they reached this point last year and just trying to make sure we can do one better. "We’ve had so much support, whether it be footballers, people around the hotel and it’s made us realise how many people actually recognise us. That’s the weird thing. We’re just enjoying the ride."
Stanway added that the message from their manager was to 'Play for the little girl that wanted to be in our shoes.'
"It’s making sure we go out there, play with a smile on our face," the midfielder said.
"The biggest thing that Sarina has said was at the start. 'Play for the little girl that wanted to be in our shoes.'
"So I’ll play for the little girl who wanted to play at the start, went to training, loved it, dreamed to be in our position."
