Eden Hazard returned to the pitch just days after confirming his retirement from football.

Last week the 32-year-old released a statement in which he admitted “you must listen to yourself and say stop at the right time”.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid star hadn’t made a dramatic U-turn on his decision to call it quits and was instead featuring in a charity match in France.

Hazard scored and provided and three assists for Le Varietes Club de France, including one for Kylian Mbappe’s father Wilfried, against Team Calais.

He and many other stars turned out to raise money for Yellow Pieces charity, which helps children and teenagers in hospital. Other names included  Didier Deschamps, Robert Pires, Christian Karembeu, Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy.

After seeing his performances, many felt that the ex-Chelsea still had the skills he possessed during his playing days.

“He shouldn’t have retired,” said one fan.

Another posted: “Eden Hazard was so astonishing.

“He’s still got it,” wrote a third.

Earlier that day Hazard spoke to the media for the first time since retiring from football and admitted the reason behind his decision to call it a day was due to his lack of enjoyment.

“I had always said that I would stop as soon as I didn’t have fun on the pitch anymore. I didn’t want to go and play somewhere for the money,” he told L’Avenir

“It was the best solution. I didn’t enjoy training anymore… And I wasn’t playing anymore. The decision was simple.

“In life, you can’t explain everything. I am at peace with myself. I’m happy. I have so many things to do outside of football that I was able to make a serene choice.”
