Each nation had a legend of their country bring out the trophy as well, with Marco Tardelli selected for Italy and Javier Zanetti chosen for Argentina.
With those two were two younger mascots and it's fair to say that Argentina's choice has quite the footballing background behind him.
In fact, it was none other than Diego Maradona's grandson, who happens to be the son of Sergio Aguero. Oh, and his godfather is Lionel Messi so yeah, there's talent galore in that family.
Premier Sports commentator Peter Drury was able to give a rundown of the family tree ahead of kick-off.

"[Javier Zanetti] His young assistant by the way is the grandson of Diego Maradona, the son therefore of Sergio Aguero, who married Maradona's youngest daughter," he explained.
Drury also added that the ball that Maradona's grandson was carrying the face of the world-renowned footballing legend.
He added: "The ball that he bares was the face of Diego Maradona. A face that wherever Argentina travel is forever preeminent."
Argentina currently lead after Lautaro Martinez opened the scoring thanks to impressive work from Messi in the build up.
