Chelsea are already looking ahead to the future

Christopher Nkunku reportedly had a secret medical ahead of a move to Chelsea next summer.

The RB Leipzig forward is in hot demand after his breakout year last season, where he scored 35 goals and assist 20, and has already registered six to his name this campaign.

German outlet Bild have reported that Nkunku underwent medical tests in Frankfurt back in August as Chelsea look to move ahead of other suitors to secure his signature.

Nkunku was linked with a move away from the Bundesliga this summer but opted to stay, however Todd Boehly has moved quickly and is reportedly willing to pay £52.8m for the ex-Paris Saint-Germain youngster.

Chelsea are in need of a new forward with Kai Havertz misfiring and both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner returning to Inter Milan and Leipzig respectively.

Boehly has spent big since purchasing the Blues and broke the Premier League record for spending in one window, bringing in  Wesley Fofana, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Kalidou Koulibaly, Raheem Sterling and Marc Cucurella for a total outlay of £270m.

The Blues have made big changes already this season as Boehly begins to put into place his long-term vision for the future at Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel was sacked in the aftermath of Chelsea’s defeat to Dinamo Zagreb and replaced by Graham Potter, who was identified by Boehly as the man to help guide Chelsea to future success.

Chelsea are seventh in the Premier League and travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday for the first league game of the Potter era. The former Brighton coach took charge of his new side for the first time against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League, where they were held to a 1-1 draw.
