Olivier Giroud scored a stunning goal in AC Milan’s pre-season friendly win over FC Koln on Saturday night, and the bodycam footage of the goal is simply incredible.

Two Koln players wore MindFly’s bodycam vests for the duration of the match, with footage of Giroud’s strike, as well as Florian Dietz’s goal in the 86th minute, being shared on social media.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal man dinked the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper and tapped it home to give the Italian outfit the lead in the 16th minute.

Giroud bagged another goal later in the tie – picking the ball up on the edge of the area before curling it home to make it 2-0 after 36 minutes.

Dietz pulled a goal back for the German club in the 86th minute, but Milan held on to their lead and secured a 2-1 victory.

How does the technology work?

MindFly’s aim is to eliminate the distance between fans and players by enabling viewers to watch any game from a player’s First-Person Point of View (FPV).

It uses state of the art technology – in the form of a lightweight AI bodycam vest – to captures the player’s eye view.

Prior to the clash at the RheinEnergieSTADION in Cologne, Eran Tal, co-founder at MindFly, revealed that it would also feature other new technologies as part of the so-called ‘Innovation Game’.

“We’re very excited to be featured in 1. FC Cologne’s upcoming match,” he told StartUpHub.

“Using MindFly in football brings the excitement of the pitch to the fans. Our lightweight AI vests are designed to keep the player’s performance and feel the same as wearing a GPS vest, and athletes forget they are wearing it after a few minutes.”
