Football fans left in disbelief as 36-year-old Dirk Kuyt kills the dab

RIP, dab

Simon Lloyd

A 36-year-old Dutchman is suspected of killing the dab on Sunday afternoon.

Footage from The Netherlands appears to show Dirk Kuyt, a professional footballer for Feyenoord, bringing the dance craze to an untimely death seconds after scoring a goal in a match against Den Haag.

The invention of the dab has been largely credited to Atlanta-based rap group, Migos, but soon made its way into the world of sport thanks to Carolina Panthers quaterback, Cam Newton.

Having reached the world of association football earlier in the year, the likes of Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and a number of Paris Saint Germain have been seen performing it.

After narrowly survived Jesse Lingard and his Manchester United teammates’ attempts to kill it through their hashtag-dab-university video earlier in the summer, it appears Kuyt’s actions have finally brought an end to dabbing’s days on a football field.

Dab fans may find the following footage disturbing.

The former Liverpool player’s dab-slaying goal celebration was part of a 3-1 victory for Feyenoord, who will host Manchester United in the Europa League later in the week.

RIP, dab. Thanks for the memories.
