Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward

A football fan is fighting for his life after suffering serious head injuries after QPR’s game against Luton Town on Friday night.

The injured man was discovered by police who were covering the match in Shepherd’s Bush, West London, at around 9.50pm.

He was rushed to hospital with a serious head injury and remains in a life-threatening condition – his family have been informed.

The Met believe that the man was assaulted, but they are not sure whether he was caught up in “disorder” after the game.

It has also been reported there have been no arrests.

Police are now appealing for anyone who saw any disorder, or how exactly the man was injured, to come forward.

Detective Constable Arrash Faghihi said: “This man sustained a serious head injury, and it is vital that we make contact with witnesses quickly.

“The area was extremely busy after the match and there will undoubtedly be many people with information that will assist police. I need them to get in touch as detectives work to build a complete picture of what happened on Friday night.”

Supporters in attendance complained on social media about bottles being thrown at rival fans as they left Loftus Road, with Queens Park Rangers having secured a 2-0 win against their longstanding rivals Luton.
