Floyd Mayweather on what will happen if Conor McGregor decides to kick next weekend

He wouldn't... Would he?

Conor McGregor would want to keep his temper under wraps next weekend.

Ever since pen was put to paper on the most lucrative fight of all time, it was suggested that a possibility exists that McGregor would resort to mixed martial arts tactics if Floyd Mayweather manages to frustrate him out of his gameplan.

‘The Notorious’ has focused solely on his boxing in the run-up to August 26, drafting in the likes of Paulie Malignaggi to test his ability in sparring.

But what if Mayweather proves as unhittable as he’s done throughout his 49-fight career?

Will McGregor throw a kick? An elbow? He wouldn’t attempt a takedown… Would he?

Mayweather was asked exactly what would happen if ‘The Notorious’ were to commit an egregious foul on the undefeated pugilist when they’re separated by no more than a referee in the centre of the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“That’s a fine, that’s a huge fine,” Mayweather told Jimmy Kimmel.

“I don’t think he wants to lose probably 90 per cent of his money, or more. I don’t even know what that’s going to be but it’s going to be a heavy fine.”

With McGregor expected to be making in the region of $100 million for his boxing debut, a fine of 90 per cent of his purse would not be worth it for the Irishman… Surely.

“I have a game plan and I will execute it perfectly, like always,” McGregor told reporters last Friday.

“I have been boxing my whole life so this is not a new experience for me.

“I will rule over MMA and boxing with an iron fist after August 26th.

“The critics say that Floyd has been there before. They discredit my training, my skills, my accomplishments.

“This isn’t new to me though, just like boxing isn’t new to me. I am no stranger to being the underdog on paper. I am a seasoned veteran and I am confident that I am the better man.

“After Saturday August 26th, I will be a god of boxing.”
