Liverpool’s surprise win over Barcelona on Tuesday sent parts of Merseyside into waves of jubilation, and it likely had airline operators absolutely buzzing as well.

Divock Origi’s goals bookended the 4-0 win over the Catalans, which came courtesy of two quick-fire goals from substitute midfielder Gini Wijnaldum as well, to send Liverpool to their second straight Champions League final.

The final this year will be held at Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano stadium on June 1, and the success of Jurgen Klopp’s side in reaching that final now means that one-way tickets to the Spanish capital from Liverpool have now increased to more than £750.

There are some cheaper options however, should you not want to chance your luck with a one-way flight, by going for a return which would see you leave Liverpool on May 31 and return the day after the final.

Those flights involve some self-transfers along the way, and may also see you leaving Madrid very early the next morning after absolutely zero seconds sleep, but if you can get the return flights for the same price as one way then you may as well give it a go.

Alternatively you could always drive, which will be much longer but way fucking cheaper.
