Fenerbahce said to be preparing bid for Mesut Ozil

What do Arsenal fans make of this?

Mesut Ozil could leave Arsenal this summer.

Ozil’s contract expires in 2018, and he has yet to accept the offer of a new contract from the club.

So, if the two parties fail to reach an agreement in the summer, the club might have to cash in on him, rather than risk losing him for nothing when his contract expires.

According to the Telegraph, there are not many big European clubs interested in signing Ozil, who joined Arsenal from Real Madrid for £42.5m in September 2013.

However, Fenerbahce are interested, and are preparing a bid for the playmaker, should he leave the Emirates this summer.

Arsenal would reportedly want to recoup at least £30m for Ozil.

Arsene Wenger, who’s own future at Arsenal remains unclear, is said to be disappointed with the German’s performances in recent months and has concerns over his fitness.

The 28-year-old hasn’t started a Premier League game since the 2-0 win over Hull City on February 11. He will miss Germany’s friendly with England on Wednesday night in Dortmund with a hamstring injury.

Ozil has been linked with a move to Turkey in the past. His parents are Turkish, and he could have represented the national team, but chose to play for the country of his birth.

Fenerbahce are expected to allow Robin van Persie leave this summer, freeing up space on the wage bill for a marquee name.

Alexis Sanchez is another Arsenal player who could be on the move at the end of the season. The Chilean’s contract also expires in 2018.

However, according to the Telegraph, clubs such as Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in him. Whereas Ozil’s options are more limited.

The report claims that Wenger is prepared to let Ozil leave, which would mean that the Arsenal manager is planning on remaining at the club
