Like all Newcastle fans, Faustino Aspirlla was disappointed to see his former club relegated on Wednesday night.

Sunderland's 3-0 win over Everton condemned Newcastle to the drop for the second time in seven years and the Colombian responded by tweeting a sarcastic congratulatory message to the club's current crop of players. https://twitter.com/TinoasprillaH/status/730498290295427073 He followed this post with another tweet (which for some reason was accompanied by a picture of him with former teammate David Ginola and former manager Kevin Keegan) calling for the players to work hard to get the club back into the Premier League. https://twitter.com/TinoasprillaH/status/730502075008847875 Along with Asprilla, Alan Shearer tweeted his assessment of Newcastle's relegation shortly after it was confirmed, stating that the club had not learned the lessons from 2009 - the last time they were relegated.
