The news that Newcastle United have splashed out £12m on Jonjo Shelvey has received a very mixed response.
On the one hand, there is no denying that the former Swansea City man is capable of moments of inspiration, with his game-changing goals and long-range passing.

On the other hand, £12m seems like a lot of money for a player who is very inconsistent, and has been labelled a ‘luxury player’ for a team facing a relegation scrap.
