Everton’s Tom Davies is spending his summer skateboarding through streets of Liverpool

The midfielder has swapped his boots for a gnarly board

Tom Davies isn’t your average footballer

Everton midfielder Tom Davies is an intriguing fella. He’s a thoroughly modern footballer; good with the ball at his feet, capable of making a tackle as well as cutting in and out between oncoming opposition.

This is not overly unusual – there are plenty of footballers like him – but it is off the pitch where he really sets himself apart from the rest.

While Cristiano Ronaldo takes part in underwear advertisements and Neymar sits front row at Paris Fashion Week, Davies can often be seen sauntering around wearing a retro adidas tracksuit as his golden curls flutter in the wind.

In truth, Davies resembles less a modern day footballer and more a 1990s Britpop up and comer, with his round glass, ponytail and oversized shirts and pantaloons.

To summarise, you could transplant him to backstage of the Hacienda and he wouldn’t look a bit out of place.

It is because of this aesthetic, this rather wavy look of his, that we were delighted if not surprised to see Davies skateboarding nonchalantly through the streets of Liverpool city centre on Tuesday.

The video, posted online by Twitter user Chris Arrowsmith, purports to show the 20-year-old going along the footpath, confidently pushing himself along with his foot, as skateboarders tend to do.

As the video continues, Davies goes out of shot, at which point we assume he landed a gnarly 360 degree kick-flip before manualing to a bodacious grind, all to a soundtrack of Sum 41.
