Eva Carneiro quits football as Chelsea tribunal continues

Former Chelsea team doctor Eva Carneiro has stepped away from football, just seven months after the incident which led to a long legal wrangle with the club.

Carneiro is currently involved in an employment tribunal, dating back to comments made by former Blues manager Jose Mourinho after Carneiro rushed onto the pitch to treat the injured Eden Hazard during August's Premier League draw with Swansea City. But the 42-year-old is now poised to return to her place of birth to work at the Gibraltar Specialist Medical Clinic, with the clinic itself making the announcement on its Facebook page. Carneiro has launched an individual legal claim against Mourinho, separate from the ongoing employment tribunal, having already taken aim at the Football Association in the aftermath of her Stamford Bridge exit. Her legal team has demanded an apology from the Portuguese coach, while noting that the doctor and the London club are some way away from a resolution in the dispute. Carneiro had been employed by Chelsea since 2009, and had worked directly with the first team squad since Andre Villas-Boas' spell in charge.
