Europa League quarter final draw: Manchester United face trip to Belgium

Could've been worse...

Robert Redmond

The draw for the quarter-finals of the Europa League has been made.

Manchester United booked their place in the last eight of the competition with a 1-0 win (2-1 on aggregate) over FC Rostov. Jose Mourinho’s side are now just five games from winning the Europa League, and booking their place in next season’s Champions League.

With the team sitting in sixth in the Premier League, six points behind fourth place Liverpool, albeit with two games in hand, winning the Europa League could represent United’s best chance of making the Champions League next season.

It’s also the only European trophy the club have never won.

If they are to reach the semi-finals they will have to overcome Anderlecht, who finished runners up in the Belgian league last season.

The draw in full:

Anderlecht vs Manchester United

Celta Vigo vs Genk

Ajax v Schalke

Lyon vs Besiktas
