Roy Keane surprised as the rest of us with Sky apology for Erik ten Hag comment

The Dutchman made the comment at 10:14 pm.

Any younger Liverpool or Manchester United supporters that were up late, watching the Premier League action at Old Trafford may have caught a stray F-bomb from Erik ten Hag.

The new United boss oversaw his side’s first league victory of the season, after taking the fight to Liverpool. Goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford helped secure a 2-1 win for the hosts.

In his post-match interview on Sky Sports, Erik ten Hag was so pumped that he cursed during the live broadcast. He commented:

“We can talk about tactics, but it’s all about attitude. We brought it onto the pitch, there was a fighting spirit, and communication. You can see what they can achieve, because they can f**king good play football.

“Sorry… I wanted a different approach to the Brentford game, and that’s what they brought to the pitch. This is why I am satisfied. We can play much better if we have more composure to make an extra pass. We have good players, but now we can be a team.”

Roy Keane as perplexed as the rest of us

Mid-way through that Erik ten Hag interview, Dave Jones made an apology, on behalf of Sky.

“We have to apologise for the language, if there was a little F-bomb dropped in there. We do apologise for that.”

As ten Hag said “sorry”, Roy Keane broke into a broad grin. It was late at night, after a big Manchester United win against their fiercest rivals. What is a stray curse between football lovers?

“I quite enjoyed that,” remarked fellow pundit Gary Neville. “Can we have more of that?!”

Others, watching on, were perplexed at why Sky had to apologise at all, especially as it was after the watershed.

United fans couldn’t care less what Erik ten Hag says, as long as his side keeps putting in performances like they witnessed this evening.
