Emmanuel Frimpong makes debut for Arsenal Tula with ‘DENCH’ on the back of his shirt

Of course he did

Remember Emmanuel Frimpong?

Arsenal fans certainly will, though not really for his time on the pitch.

The midfielder was on the Gunners’ books for three years between 2011 and 2014, making six appearances for the first team amid loan spells at Wolves, Fulham and Charlton Athletic.

But while he may not be an Arsenal legend because of his playing career, he is one of the club’s biggest fans and has always been popular with supporters and regularly uses his Twitter account – which boasts a staggering 743,000 followers – to speak of his love for the Gunners.

His place in Arsenal fans’ affections was secured back in 2011 when he used his Instagram account to take a swipe at Samir Nasri who left the club to sign for Manchester City and made himself a villain for Gooners in the process.

Frimpong posted a picture of the two of them squaring up with the caption: “Looking to knockout Cashmir,” and branding the France international a “little worm”.

He left the club in 2014 but such is his devotion to the north London side that he has managed to find a new club with the same name (sort of).

He now plays for Russian team Arsenal Tula having joined earlier this month on a two year deal.

He was also famous for his ‘Dench’ catchphrase, which is also the name of a clothing brand he owns along with rapper Lethal Bizzle.

This weekend Frimpong made his debut for his new club – and has managed to get his favourite word – well, the Russian translation ‘ДЕНЧ’ – on the back of his shirt in place of his name.

Sadly for Frimpong he apparently wasn’t quite fully fit so he suffered the indignity of being subbed off after coming on. #Dench.
