As many as eight Chelsea players are now having to quarantine after returning from holidays abroad, the Mail has reported, causing severe disruption to their pre-season plans.
The club have confirmed that a handful of players have tested positive for coronavirus and are therefore quarantining to limit the spread of the disease throughout the squad.
Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and Fikayo Tomori were all on holiday together in Mykonos, Greece and are now self-isolating under government guidelines.
Ross Barkley, Jorginho, Michy Batshuayi and Emerson Palmieri are also isolating, but were holidaying in different destinations. Jorginho headed to his native Italy for a break in Capri while Batshuayi headed to Cannes, France.
It is not yet known which players have the virus, but the Telegraph claim six players have contracted it, with the other two isolating after being in close contact with those who have tested positive.
Frank Lampard’s pre-season plans have been affected by this outbreak, and England boss Gareth Southgate now has another dilemma to solve after selecting Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount for his England squad to face Iceland in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday.
It has also been reported that 14 tests have come back positive across 12 different Premier League teams.
