Football is a game of tribalism and partisanship, but there are certain things that transcend the natural rivalry of the sport.

Ahead of the Republic of Ireland's key Euro 2016 play-off game with Bosnia, a minute's silence was held for all the innocent victims of the callous terror attacks in Paris on Friday. Regardless of nationality, religion or affiliation, it was a moment that no decent human being could possibly begrudge the tragically deceased and their mourning nation.
