News of Mark Clattenburg's abrupt departure from the Premier League left football fans up and down the land bitterly disappointed last week.

Off to take up an exciting new role in Saudi Arabia, it seemed supporters would be denied the opportunity to bid 'Clatts' a fond, emotional farewell. Thankfully, it now appears that's not the case. Although his move to the Middle East is still on the cards, this will only happen at the end of the season - meaning football fans up and down the land can savour the final months of Clattenburg's Premier League career. It's expected he could oversee four more matches in England's top flight before leaving to pursue a £500,000-a-year tax-free job in Riyadh at the end of the season. Understandably, football fans were happy at news of Clattenburg's mini U-turn, with many of them reaching for their phones to leave kind messages on social media. https://twitter.com/Robjj32/status/833725288416681984 https://twitter.com/RawanTheDon/status/833709923347337216?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw https://twitter.com/scouser_1987/status/833695222576062464 https://twitter.com/_JordanMUFC/status/833698231754301440 https://twitter.com/Imran_XXVI/status/833743292277874688 https://twitter.com/TrevorAbsolom/status/833739837186387970 https://twitter.com/Porterican/status/833695221900779527 This Manchester United supporter was relishing the thought of the 41-year-old taking charge of his side's FA Cup quarter final with Chelsea. https://twitter.com/pmos93/status/833709206423404544 Another example of how wonderfully kindhearted football fans are. With such an overwhelmingly positive reaction, it's a wonder why more people don't pursue careers as referees, isn't it?
