He’s the sole absentee for today’s training session

The England team have announced that Dele Alli will not take part in Thursday afternoon training as he is being monitored by the side’s medical staff.

The update comes after the Tottenham midfielder picked up a thigh injury in the Three Lion’s match against Tunisia on Monday.

The official England Twitter account, tweeted: “The Three Lions will be back on the training field shortly, as we begin our build-up for Sunday’s game again Panama.

“Dele Alli is the only absentee from the session, as he continues his recovery from a slight thigh strain.”

England can qualify for the last 16 with a win over Panama and it is likely that Ruben Loftus-Cheek will take up Alli’s place in the squad if Alli does miss the game.

Panama currently sit at 55th in the FIFA international rankings and England are strong favourites in the match, after Belgium demolished the Central Americans 3-0 in their opening Group G fixture.

The news that Alli misses training comes after the player posted an injury update to Instagram last night, telling his followers he would “do everything in [his] power” to return to full fitness.
