Senol Gunes claimed that the on-loan midfielder hadn’t turned up for training

Dele Alli has broken his silence on social media after there were fears for his whereabouts.

On Wednesday, Besiktas boss Senol Gunes revealed that the on-loan Everton midfielder had failed to turn up for training after being granted some time off.

“Dele Alli could not come at this time. It’s raining, I guess that’s why he couldn’t come.

“We’re trying to hear from him. We could not reach him by phone. Hopefully, he didn’t have an accident.”

After the claims it was reported by The Echo that Alli’s agent confirmed that he had been given permission to travel back to London for a medical appointment.

Later in the evening (Wednesday), Alli posted a message on Instagram to deny Gunes’ claims.

He said: “Hey guys just had loads of messages so wanted to clear something up.

“The club gave me permission to attend a doctor’s appointment today. I’m due back in training tomorrow as normal.”

The England international has endured a difficult time in Turkey, scoring just three goals in 17 games across all competitions and is yet to register an assist.

Back in January, Besiktas boss Gunes criticised the former Tottenham man. He said: “Dele Alli has had a good career, but he doesn’t deserve to play at the moment.”

With his loan deal set to expire at the end of the season, it’s unlikely that his move will be made permanent.
