Defender slugs back can of beer thrown from stands, scores last minute equaliser, is our hero

Get this man a knighthood

What do you do when a can of lager is hurled at you from opposition fans?

If you’re Sergio Ramos, Pepe or Sergio Busquets then you go down holding your face even if the missile landed three feet away.

But if you’re Ivan Bandalovski then you crack it open and get gulping.

During a Bulgarian play-off game at the weekend, Vereya defender Bandalovski treated himself to a beer that arrived at his feet from an unhappy supporter in the stands.

With play interrupted in the clash with Levski Sofia, Bandalovski got the lager into him but it was not to his refined taste as he spat it out immediately because Bandalovski is more of a cider man.

As if the on-pitch boozing wasn’t heroic enough, Bandalovski only went and scored a late equaliser as he bundled over a goalline scramble to force the game into extra time.

Unfortunately, the footballing Gods stopped looking down on the game at that point because Levski went on to win the game on penalties.

But we’ll always have Bandalovski happily sticking it to the haters by knocking back a cold one.
