“I think Declan Rice is the best player in the Premier League.”

Glenn Hoddle has boldly claimed that Declan Rice is the best player in the Premier League and believes that Phil Foden has the potential to the best player in the world in three years time.

Both Rice and Foden’s performances have seen them become integral members of Gareth Southgate’s England squad, with both playing key roles in the run to the final of Euro 2020, whilst also flourishing at club level.

It’s led to Rice in particular being linked with a move away from West Ham, with several reports suggesting that it could take in excess of £100million to convince David Moyes’ side to sell.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, the former England boss reserved high praise for the two talented youngsters, insisting that they can both go all the way to the top.

He said: “I think Declan Rice is the best player in the Premier League, he’s going to get better and better.

“For me, I think Phil Foden in three years time will be the best player in the world.

“He has got everything. I saw him when he was 17 when they won the youth World Cup and he was head and shoulders above anyone on the pitch and that was against the South Americans.

“I said at the time he looked more South American than they did!

“He knows how to penetrate the six-yard box, can score goals from inside and out.”

Rice missed out on the Three Lions’ latest international fixtures against Albania and San Marino due to illness, while Foden played in both games as England secured qualification to the World Cup in Qatar next year.
