Angry Frenkie de Jong ‘tells Barcelona teammates he could join Man United’

Frenkie de Jong's future at Barcelona is expected to be resolved very soon, with reports from Spain claiming he has admitted to teammates that he could now join Manchester United. United have been linked with a move for De Jong all summer having agreed a fee wit Barca for the Dutch midfielder weeks ago. Despite this, the move has stalled, reportedly complicated by an issue relating to deferred wages owed to De Jong by Barca and the former Ajax player's reluctance to leave the Camp Nou. LaLiga's financial restrictions mean Barcelona were only able to register four of their new signings on Friday after activating a series of 'financial levers'. Jules Kounde, who is not believed to be fully match fit following his move from Sevilla, has not been registered in time with Barca needing to reduce their wage bill before he is. Selling De Jong, one of Barca's top earners, would make this task considerably easier. SPORT say United are readying a 'total offensive' to finally get a deal done for De Jong, who has also been closely linked to Chelsea. The same report adds that De Jong has indicated to teammates that a move to Old Trafford could now happen. The move is, however, only expected to be finalised towards the end of the month, so there's still time for the saga to rumble on for another couple of weeks.
