It was suggested that the injury was so severe as to possibly force the 36-year-old to hang up his gloves but that talk has been proven untrue by the latest update from the Haye camp.
Haye has confirmed that he is set to fight again in December of this year and that the bout will unsurprisingly take place in his native England.
"I will hold the next fight in December. We will announce everything in the next two weeks, and the fight itself will be held in England," Haye said, via BoxingScene.com.
Despite the unusual nature of their fight's finish, Bellew has recently stopped entertaining the possibility of a rematch with 'The Hayemaker' as he sets his eyes on big money fights against the likes of Andre Ward, Joseph Parker and Deontay Wilder.
With Bellew off the table, there remain few big names for Haye to come up against.
Whoever Haye faces, he will be desperate for a victory if he is to accomplish his ultimate goal which is the most lucrative one possible as he remains hopeful of meeting the heavyweight division's biggest star, Anthony Joshua, at some stage next year.
"Of course, I want a fight against Joshua in 2018," Haye added.Explore more on these topics:
