Danny Welbeck scores against Manchester United again, restores faith in football

Paul Moore

Three goals in four appearances against Manchester United for ‘Dat Guy’.

Right now, Manchester United will be doubling their efforts to win the Europa League because Champions League qualification for Mourinho’s side via the league is looking very precarious.

A deflected long-range effort from Granit Xhaka and a thumping header by Danny Welbeck were enough to give Arsenal a 2-0 win at The Emirates as Wenger’s men picked up a valuable three points in the battle for the top four.

The result now means that United are four points adrift of local rivals Man City who occupy fourth spot. As for Arsenal, they’re six points behind Guardiola’s men but crucially, the Gunners have a game in hand.

Due to injuries, Welbeck has only managed to feature in 11 league games this season with his only league goal coming in the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool.

This being said, the Manchester born striker does have a remarkable knack of scoring against his former side – the header was his third goal in four games against United.

Much like black boots and the FA Cup Final song, another tradition that’s dying out in football revolves around players celebrating against their former clubs.

Well, ‘dat guy’ was happy to buck this trend and people* absolutely loved it.

*You know, people that aren’t Manchester United supporters/players or Jose Mourinho.
