Daniel Sturridge’s fantastic gesture to a Liverpool fan is great to see

Paul Moore

Great stuff from the Liverpool man.

On the field, Daniel Sturridge and his fellow Liverpool players must have been very frustrated as they left Anfield on Saturday after the ‘Pool were held to a 1-1 draw against Burnley.

While all eyes were on Phillipe Coutinho’s return, it was Mohamed Salah that scored for Klopp’s men and despite continued pressure and countless shots on target, they couldn’t find a winner.

After the game, Klopp said that he was “angry with the result but pleased with the performance” and with a front three of Firmino, Sturridge and Salah being supported by Coutinho, it’s clear that the goals will come. Sadio Mane’s return from suspension will also be a massive boost.

Regarding Sturridge’s starting XI opportunities this season, the striker featured for an hour in the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace, 16 minutes at the end of Liverpool’s demolition of Arsenal – he scored in that game also – and he got the full match at the weekend.

Despite being frustrated by the 1-1 draw against Dyche’s side, the England international still went out of his way to put a smile on the face of one young Liverpool fan.

After the game, the former Man City and Chelsea striker went over to a fan and gave him his shirt.

Here’s what he said on Instagram : “Results may not go exactly how we want, or I don’t play as well as I want, but I remember when I couldn’t afford to pay for tickets to watch football matches as a kid and hoping I’d get a picture, or signature, from a player and will never forget the ones that said no.”

He added: “So s/o to the little fella at the game who I gave my shirt to because you’re the future and can make a change in this world.”

Great stuff.
