Dani Alves shows distinct lack of humility with mocking message to Pele

Kevin McGillicuddy

Stay classy, Dani Alves.

The Barcelona right-back has recently become the most successful Brazilian footballer of all-time, after he finished this season with two more baubles to add to his growing medal haul.

The full-back collected another Copa del Rey title at the weekend, and on top of the La Liga crown, is now well out in front in terms of individual success.

The 33-year-old has not always received the fulsome praise at home that he seems to enjoy among the Nou Camp faithful.

So he decided to send a message to Pele, Brazil’s most famous footballer, reminding him of Alves’ greatness, as if anyone might be in doubt.

Alves is obviously joking (at least we hope he is), but the translation from Spanish doesn’t reflect very well on his ego.

“Pelé, you are the King … You are the King, but I have more titles than you…

“I know I will get criticised for this, but I’m happy. It’s us! I will do what? I’m Happy … In football history there will always be an account of my story. So beautiful. Now I will go cook.”

Poor old Pele. It seems that the youth of today have no respect at all.
