Manchester United have been charged with breaching Uefa anti-doping regulations & fined €10,000 following the Europa League final.

The charge involves both Phil Jones and Daley Blind, who reportedly refused to comply with the requests of anti-doping officers after United’s 2-0 victory over Ajax in Sweden.

Jones is accused of being verbally abusive towards an officer upon being asked to take a drug test after the final in Stockholm on May 24.

Blind has also been charged with a violation and non-compliance of the doping procedure and each defender has been hit with a fine of €5,000.

A two-game ban has also been issued to Jones, whose offence was considered more egregious than that of the Dutchman.

Jones will now miss the Uefa Super Cup match against Real Madrid next week as well as United’s first Champions League group game in September.

There has been no suggestion that either player was guilty of doping but, rather, both were just overly keen on joining their teammates for the celebrations.

The club has three days to appeal against Uefa’s punishment.
