Cristiano Ronaldo ‘breached’ Nike contract by wearing Adidas

Ronaldo featured for the first time this pre-season against the LaLiga side and played in the first 45 minutes but has put himself under the spotlight after wearing Adidas while being sponsored by their main competitors, Nike.

The 38-year-old has been a part of the Nike family since 2003 and in that time has become one of the most marketable athletes of all time, signing a deal worth $1bn back in 2016.

Additionally, Ronaldo's deal is also said to include significant bonuses and put the megastar at the forefront of several campaigns.

During his partnership, the forward is said to have worn over 70 different Nike boots but fans noticed his shin pads were made by Adidas, as spotted by Footy Headlines.

In a bizarre turn of events, one of Ronaldo's most iconic adverts with Nike actually saw him wear an Adidas jumper only for the manufacturer to photoshop it out and replace it with their famous slogan, 'Just Do It'.

Last year Ronaldo hit back at criticism of his son after he was spotted wearing Adidas, replying: "He wears what he wants. Not what you want."
