The England captain has suffered from crippling panic attacks
A new Amazon Prime documentary will chart the incredible career of cricketer Ben Stokes.
Ben Stokes: Phoenix from the Ashes, directed by Chris Grubb and Luke Mellows, will see various figures from across the cricketing landscape offer their thoughts on one of the most recognisable faces playing the game today.
In a trailer released today, viewers were given a sneak peak into what they can expect from the documentary upon its release at the end of August.
The documentary will focus on Stokes' mental health problems, which saw him step away from the game for a short period of time.
The England and Durham all-rounder says he has suffered cripping panic attacks over the course of his career, so much so that it appeared to those closest to him that he may never play again.
Indeed, viewers can hear director Sam Mendes opening the trailer by saying: "If I was making the movie of the Ben Stokes story," he says, "the pivotal scene would be of you saying: "I'm done"."
Thankfully, Stokes has returned and has since picked up the captaincy of the England test squad.
His team will take on South Africa at Lords in the first of three tests from 17th August.
They then move to Old Trafford on 25th, with the film's release coming on the second day.
