Clint Dempsey’s customised boots are the most American you’ll ever see

Simon Lloyd

Customised football boots are all the rage at the minute.

First, there was Mario Balotelli’s offering, complete with mowhawk on the heel. These were closely followed by Radamel Falcao’s design, yellow and blue to show off his Colombian roots.

But Falcao’s effort to capture patriotism in a football boot has been left in the shadows by Clint Dempsey’s latest ‘cleat’.

With the help of Portuguese graffiti artist MrDheo and a few cans of spray paint, Dempsey’s new Nike Tiempos are the most American football boot the world has ever seen.

The pair were specially made in collaboration with Dempsey and his club, Seattle Sounders, and will be auctioned next month will all proceeds going to Seattle-based foundation Boys and Girls of King County.

Yee-haw!
