Henry’s reaction says it all
Former Tottenham forward Clint Dempsey has named his old club as dark horses to win the Champions League this season.
Dempsey, who played for Spurs in the 2012-2013 season, thinks that Antonio Conte’s winning mentality will help them to surprise their opponents and lift a first-ever Champions League title.
“I’m not biased at all but I think maybe Tottenham,” he said while working as a pundit on CBS Sports.
“Conte’s a winner… I think it’s them… they’ve done well in the transfer window.”

His prediction didn’t receive the warmest of reactions, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was left baffled by his prediction, responding by saying ” What?! I am out” while Jamie Carragher laughed off the suggestion.
Spurs reached the Champions League Final in 2019 under Mauricio Pochettino but lost out to Liverpool. Since then, they have failed to qualify for Europe’s most prestigious tournament.
Tottenham have made a strong start to the season and are one of only three teams yet to lose a game in the Premier League. Conte’s side sit third in the table and are looking like they will be challenging for a top four spot once again.
The north London side start their group stage campaign against French side Marseille on Wednesday night. They will be one of the favourites to qualify from their group, which also contains Eintracht Frankfurt and Sporting Lisbon.
