One cameraman's commitment to keeping his lens focused on Diego Costa's face for the duration of the game finally paid off.
The day after Atletico Madrid confirmed that they had completed the formalities and re-signed Costa following a successful spell at Chelsea, the fiery forward was sat in the Wanda Metropolitano watching his current and former sides do battle.
Costa can't feature for Atletico until January but he devoted his support to his new teammates on Wednesday night, when the La Liga outfit hosted Chelsea in the Champions League group stages.
The Spain international came face-to-face with his former club compatriots prior to kick-off, shortly after he posted a glowing statement to the London club.
"Some cycles begin while others end," Costa wrote on Instagram. "My cycle began at Chelsea three years ago – three remarkable years in all aspects – and I will never forget it. Two championship titles, a Community Shield, 120 matches, 59 goals and 24 assists later this cycle has ended. Not the way I would have wanted – far from it – but the best way possible.

"The wonderful fans of such equally admirable club and all teammates, as well as clinical, administrative and logistics staff will remain forever in my mind and in my heart. Will bring them with me in the certainty that I will always be by their side as well and I’m sure they will understand the reason why this cycle of mine has now ended – because I could not lose faith in myself. Thank you Chelsea for everything."
Blues supporters were very fond of the 28-year-old, for the most part, but that didn't prevent quite a significant percentage of them enjoying the look on Costa's face when he had to watch his new side concede a late winner to Chelsea in Madrid.
Atleti took a first-half lead against Chelsea courtesy of an Antoine Griezmann penalty but a continuation of Alvaro Morata's blistering start to life under Conte and a late goal from Michy Batshuayi meant that the visitors maintained their 100 per cent record in the Champions League group stages.
Costa's reaction said it all and the Blues fans watching from home absolutely loved it.
