Chelsea are once again rivaling Manchester United in the transfer market, making an audacious approach for an £80m-rated star to disrupt their Premier League rivals' summer plans.
Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has been on United’s radar as the club attempts to add another midfielder to the squad.
However, Chelsea have taken a keen interest too in the English midfielder, coming days after signing Spanish defender Pep Chavarria.
Pep Chavarria was also a player United were looking to sign over the summer, as the club is also looking for a defender over the summer.
Yet Chelsea were the ones to sign the 28 year-old defender for £16.3 million from Rayo Vallecano.
Chavarria’s arrival to West London gives an edge to the team who are looking into a very competitive season.
The Spanish defender is expected to cover the left-hand side of the pitch in order to fill the Cucurella void.
The Blues are ready to replace Enzo Fernandez, if his wish to leave Stamford Bridge comes true.
The Argentinian midfielder has been vocal about leaving the club and desires to join the likes of Real Madrid or Manchester City before the transfer window closes.
Scott, 22, has made quite the impression with a favourable 2025-26 season, playing 38 matches altogether.
Chelsea made a £64 million bid for Scott last month, to which Bournemouth rejected the offer as they evaluated the midfielder at £80 million.
Bournemouth are no longer taking in offers, but Chelsea will be looking to stick their foot in the door with this new bid.
It of course would be helpful if Manchester City are willing to drop £120 million on Fernandez, amid the Rodri-Barcelona bound transfer.
