The Blues will (probably) be hoping for a Madrid triumph

Chelsea are set to land a huge cash windfall if Real Madrid defeat Liverpool in the Champions League final this season, thanks to the transfer of Eden Hazard.

Should Madrid overcome the Reds in the final in Paris later this month – and claim a record-extending 14th European crown – Chelsea will reportedly receive a significant payment from the LaLiga side following the transfer of Hazard in 2019.

The Blues sold the Belgian playmaker to Los Blancos for an initial £88.5million. However, the London side also included numerous add-ons within the deal which means the transfer fee could rise to a staggering £130m.

Chelsea set for huge cash windfall if Madrid win final

As reported by the Sun, should Hazard help Madrid to Champions league glory this season, Chelsea would stand to receive another significant amount of cash.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Chelsea received extra windfall from the deal, either. The Premier League side reportedly received £20m after Madrid won the league title in 2020, and subsequently secured qualification for the Champions League.

Difficult time in Madrid for Hazard

Hazard – who last played on February 19 and has recently undergone ankle surgery – has endured a difficult time in Spain, making just three appearances in the Champions League this campaign, playing a total of just 83 minutes.

The 31-year-old has recorded just 65 appearances for Los Blancos during his time at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, registering just six goals and 10 assists.

However, the attacking midfielder would still stand to earn a winners’ medal should his side go all the way and defeat Jurgen Klopp’s side in the final.
